Finding and building audiences with client-driven podcasts

How we did it

Workiva, a public SaaS leader in platform for finance, sustainability and risk, turned to Sterling to help elevate its voice in the minefield-laden ESG space. Their goal: Position the AI platform as a go-to source for ESG leadership while supporting sales outreach to key accounts.

Sterling’s answer was ESG Talk. We created, branded, and produced a weekly podcast designed for execs navigating environmental, social, and governance reporting complexity. The show featured candid, high-level conversations that translate fast-changing standards into actionable insight. We expanded the format to audio and video, integrated it into Workiva’s YouTube growth strategy, and focused guest booking on decision-makers at high-value target companies.

The results went beyond awareness. ESG Talk opened doors with executives who later entered proposal conversations with Workiva’s sales team. Strategic press coverage and strong engagement confirmed the podcast’s influence — and solidified Workiva’s position as a trusted voice in fast-moving field.
